OSLOPRETENDERS
Two Wins!
Rommen, Oslo, August 6th 2022
By Terje
The Pretenders came out strong after the Summer-break and won their first double-header of the season as they faced the Royals at Rommen.

Game 1: 12-3
With one for the best pitchers in Norway on the mound for the opposite team in Emil Fjellvang, the Pretenders knew this would be a nail-biter. Every run would count and focus and determination were key elements to make this happen.

The Pretenders jumped on Emil in the 1st inning as Enrico got on a lead-off walk and stole 2nd to set him up for the next batters. With two outs Greg Jamanila made his season debut and smacked in Enrico on a line drive to right field. He then stole 2nd and scored on a E6 to take a 2-0 lead. But the Royals came right back in the bottom of the frame with 3 runs of their own on two walks and a single.

Ai Narita started on the mound for the Pretenders and had to fight threw a tough first inning with 31 pitches. He however settled down after this and pitched the whole game on 103 pitches with 5 Ks and 3 hits. His second-best game of the season.

The score 3-2 to Royals carried through to the top of the 6th where the Pretenders finally managed to attack Emil. With the bases loaded and one out the table was set for Lukasz Trepczyk who hit a slow-roller to 1st. The first baseman threw to home - but way over- and the Pretenders managed to maximize the situation by scoring not only one - but two runs on the miscue.

In the top of the 7th the Pretenders scored another run of Emil on Ai's single to RF before he was relieved, but then the bats for the Pretenders really came alive - the following 9 batters executed 6 hits, BB, HP and E4 to blow the game wide open to give the Pretenders a 12-3 victory.

On defense the Pretenders made no errors and had their first muti-double-play-game of the season with 2 great plays.

Game 2: 7-2
With another "must win game" of the day, the Pretenders carried their momentum from the first game into the second game as they scored 5 runs in the first two innings of Charles Conrad from the Royals. Two runs on Sac-flies from James Theodos and Greg Jamanila, Ben Atkins’ bases-loaded walk, Ai Narita's RBI single and a E1.

The Pretenders added another run in the 4th and 6th on RBI single by Lukasz Trepczyk and RBI "double" by Terje Hoaas.

On the mound Ty Tollestrup continued his great season by pitching the whole game on 4 hits, 2 runs (1 earned) and 4 Ks.

On defense the Pretenders continued their great efforts with another superb double play on a classic 4-6-3 (Enrico-Ai-Andreas) in the top of the 5th to kill Royals' potential really.

A momentous day with two wins. Go Pretenders!
