After two humiliating losses last year in Trondheim (3-16 and 10-13), the P1 squad was determine to seek revenge. In addition the Pretenders needed two wins to stay in the play-off spot. The whole team contributed and with two stellar pitching performances the Pretenders could head back to the Capital with two solid and convincing wins.

Game one: 11-3

Glenn Wells took charge on the mound from the get go, and pitched his best game of the year in a complete game victory.  Giving up only 2 hits, 3 walks and 3 runs (one earned) while fanning 4 batters over 7 strong innings for his win #101. At the Plate the Pretenders opened the show with 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning after an 2-rbi-single by Alec Haralovich. In the 3rd Terje Myhrer-Hoaas cleared the bases on a 2-out-E8 to take a 7-0 lead.  The Knickers came back in the bottom of the 3rd with two runs, but the Pretenders continued to smack the ball around the field and scored two more in both the 4th and 5th inning on rbi-double by Nate Peterson and rbi-single by Matt Connell to end the game in style with 11-3.

Game two: 12-5

Matt Connell got the ball in the second game of the day and pitched a convincing game as he gave up 6 hits, 3 walks and 5 runs (4 eared) while striking out 7 batters over 7 innings. At the plate the P1 squad scratched out 3 runs in the 1st inning on 5 walks and a single by Matt Connell. In the 3rd they plated two more runs on an error and a walk combined with a balk. In the 5th two more runs were scored on Martinius Hars’ rbi-single.  With a 7-2 lead going  into the bottom of the 6th – the game looked like a sure win. But the Knickers came back with 3 runs on 4 consecutive hits to tighten the game to 7-5. The thought of another meltdown was starting to fuzz around the stadium. But this time around the Pretenders came back in a powerful way in the top of the 7th with 7 hits. All 5 runs were scored after two outs – 3 of them on Matt Connell’s bases-clearing double to left field.

Note: Terje Myhrer-Hoaas got his 400th lifetime hit in the 2nd game of the day – making him only the 3rd ever to reach the milestone in Norwegian baseball after Glenn Wells and Leif P Sandvik.
