Florentino died of a sudden illness, aged 44, while visiting his native Cuba. Floro played for the Pretenders Outcasts 2011–13 and was always a fun, positive teammate to be around. Floro will be sorely missed by many. A feared opponent and a cherished teammate.
​
He is survived by his wife, Kari, daughter Jenny and son Bendik. The Pretenders sent flowers to his funeral at Grorud Kirke, where Terje, Darren and a hundred family members and friends bid Floro a final farewell.
